Cookie Notice

We keep tracking to a minimum. This page lists everything this site stores in your browser and what happens when you click through to a retailer.

Last updated: August 2026

What we store

  • Strictly necessary storage. Our pages are served without advertising or profiling cookies. Small technical values may be stored to keep the site working, such as your language preference.
  • Editor session (staff only). If someone signs in to the editorial dashboard, an authentication token is stored in that browser so the session persists. It is never set for ordinary readers.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, we do not run third-party ad networks, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Anonymous click counts

When a reader clicks a "Check price" button we record that a click happened on that article and product. This counter is anonymous: it contains no name, no email, no IP address and no identifier that could be traced back to you. We use it only to see which guides are useful.

Cookies set by Amazon and other retailers

When you click an affiliate link you leave this site. Amazon and other retailers then set their own cookies — including the affiliate tracking cookie that credits the referral to us — under their own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control. Their cookie typically remains active for a limited window (24 hours on Amazon, or longer if you add an item to your cart). Please read the destination site's own notices.

Hosting and security logs

Like every website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical request data (IP address, browser type, requested page) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to profile readers.

How to control cookies

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data — usually under Settings → Privacy. You can also browse in a private window. Blocking storage will not stop you reading our guides, but it may reset your language choice, and blocking the retailer's cookie means a purchase you make will not be credited to us.

Most desktop browsers also support the Global Privacy Control signal. We honour it: since we do not sell or share personal information, no additional opt-out is required.
